Herodias

Herodias appears in Mark 6: 17-27

Another deliciously wicked woman! Herodias felt entitled – to a powerful husband and to a position of status. And she wasn’t going to rest until she had them. So she dumps her first husband Philip, and marries Herod. But soon there is public criticism of her relationship with Herod from John the Baptist. Now she is a woman who wants revenge.

Herodias plots to have John killed, but Herod is afraid of him, and only calls for his imprisonment. That doesn't stop this spiteful woman, she just comes up with another plan, even involving her daughter to accomplish her goal.

A sense of entitlement, and the need for revenge can really get us in trouble. It certainly caused Herodias a problem. This is a powerful story with an important message
